A recent article by Susan Ellis, entitled, “Part Time Volunteer Management means equally limited volunteer involvement,” addresses the topic of part-time volunteer management, the employer mentality around that and the unfortunate results. When budgets are cut, volunteer management can look like an easy area to slice as, gee, “we have the volunteers already.” There can be a dismissive attitude towards both volunteer managers and the volunteers. Clare O’Kelly, AVRBC President, would like to know what our members think of this topic? Would you like to see AVRBC develop a position statement as Susan Ellis suggests?

As someone who's part-time managing volunteers in a LARGE health care environment and manages its daily effects AS WELL AS having experienced the disasterous effect of non-replacement during my 1 year...
